According to the Berlin Connecticut Police Department, the woman accused of assaulting a United States Navy sailor at Central Pizza turned herself in at police headquarters.

Lori Desjardins of Southington was charged with one count of assault in the 3rd degree and one count of breach of peace in the 2nd degree and was released on a $10,000 bond and will appear in court on September 23.

The incident occurred on the anniversary of 9/11 when Desjardins began yelling expletives at Navy sailor Sean Nolte Jr. saying, "You disgrace the U.S. You disgrace the USA." The following is an excerpt from Nolte's FB page.

She kept claiming that my Military ID is fake, and proceeds to show me her DEPENDENT MILITARY ID, and screams "This is what your ID should look like".  She storms out of the pizzeria, and storms right back in, progressively screaming at me "You disgust me, you son of a bitch", grabbing my uniform and throwing my cover on the ground, not aware that I am a real service member. In a last ditch effort to leave, she rushes towards me and slaps me in the left side of my face.

As Nolte was being accosted, he maintained his composure and professionalism by being very polite. According to FOX61 News, Nolte also stated, "Being in uniform, I must maintain professionalism, so I stand there and proceed to wish her a nice day."
