Congratulations Graduates of the Class of 2025. Ready to start earning and living the good life? You might want to avoid two cities in Connecticut and start your career elsewhere, at least according to a new study.

WalletHub.com has just released their new study Best & Worst Places to Start a Career (2025), and Derby, Bozrah, and New Milford were nowhere near either end of their list, but Bridgeport and New Haven did.

To arrive at their numbers, WalletHub.com compared the 150 most populated cities in the US, plus at least two of the biggest cities in each state across two key dimensions: Professional Opportunities and Quality of Life, and then further evaluated those using 25 relevant metrics. Some of which were: Availability of Entry-Level Jobs, Average Starting Salary, Annual Job Growth Rate, Unemployment and Underemployment Rates, Median Income, Average Length of Work Week, Commute Times, and Housing Affordability. As I've already told you, our two largest cities performed horribly on the National stage.

New Haven landed at #163 in the study, while Bridgeport scraped the very bottom of the worst one away from rock bottom at #181. The only city WalletHub.com says is a worse place to start your career in 2025 than Bridgeport is #182 - Pearl City, Hawaii. The news is not all bad though, Bridgeport tied for first place in Monthly Average Starting Salaries with Durham, NC, Austin, TX, and Casper, WY. You will make nearly three times as much money starting your career in Bridgeport compared to starting your career in Juneau, Alaska.

The Best 'Made in Litchfield County' Products I've Tried Recently

I love supporting local businesses, it's vital in 2025 to try to devote as much of our income to our friends and neighbors, if not, the wave of closures will continue. I bought four products made in Litchfield County in the past few months that really impressed me. On a National stage, I believe they are as good, if not superior, to the name brands.

The Culinary Highlights Along Route 44 Through Litchfield County

I love exploring Litchfield County since I made the move to Torrington, there are so many underrated restaurants, cafes, and bakeries that don't get the attention of someplace in Hartford, New Haven, or Danbury. Route 44 is a major roadway that cuts across Northern Litchfield County east to west from Lakeville to New Hartford, if you're hungry, here are some great places to stop.
