Top 100 Places to Live in CT List Is Laughable—Greater Danbury Deserves Better
According to The Patch, Niche has just released its annual list of the Top 100 Places to Live in Connecticut.

If you live in the Greater Danbury area, get ready to feel a little overlooked because, once again, we’ve been treated as an afterthought in the Nutmeg State. Niche compiled the list using data from the Census Bureau, the CDC, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Here are the Top 10 Places to Live in Connecticut according to this report:
1. West Hartford
2. Glastonbury Center
3. Westport
4. Farmington
5. Weatogue
6. Simsbury
7. Avon
8. Riverside
9. Glastonbury
10. Old Greenwich
As sports bettors would say, this list is "chalk." It’s what you’d expect—these communities are fantastic, and it’s hard to argue with them, so I have no problem with the Top 10.
However, things get a little laughable when you consider how towns in the Greater Danbury area were ranked:
17. Ridgefield
46. Newtown
67. Brookfield
88. Bethel
But where are Danbury, New Milford, and New Fairfield? Not even on the list. Where do I start? This is just another example of the Western Connecticut media bias we’ve been dealing with for years. If you're not from Westport or Wilton, it feels like you're invisible in the state’s rankings.
Personally, I believe New Milford, Danbury, Brookfield, Bethel, Ridgefield, Newtown, and New Fairfield all deserve a spot in the Top 30 places to live in Connecticut.
We talked about this on the Tuesday (3/25/25) edition of the I-95 Morning Show and it's possible we let our emotions get the best of us because someone mentioned the possibility of driving to Pittsburgh, PA to fight the staff of Niche.
P.S. I actually could argue with the Top 10 because it appears that wealth is playing a major role in the ranking, but I need to prioritize my battles. We need to get ON the list before I start arguing seeding.
