This past weekend I went on a trip to Boston with my wife and kids. We left on Friday afternoon on the heels of a snowstorm.

I woke up at 1:30 in the morning to beat the snow and make it into work safe. I did the Ethan and Lou Show, wrapped up my post production and headed home. When I got home, I ate something and slept for 3 hours, when I woke up we drove to Boston.

The entire time we were there, it was windy and cold and there was snow on every surface. We had a nice time as a family but it was easily as much work as it was entertainment and the frigid grip of winter had a lot to do with that.

This Candlewood Lake Hype Video Will Remind You Why You Live Here

As we head into March, a long, icy winter is coming to a close and it can’t end soon enough. All of us have been uncomfortable and inconvenienced by the weather the way we are every year. You work to clear snow; you anticipate and prepare for weather and we all endure it.

We need a break, and it’ coming soon. I often make fun of people whose solution to the seasons is to move to Florida. I say they can’t hack it; they are not big enough to ride this ride or we don’t want them. If I am being fair, by this time every year, I am reconsidering my position on this.

Living here can be brutal but the horizon is coated in sunlight. For many of us, Candlewood Lake is why we live here. It is center stage for our personal entertainment and relaxation. Right about now, we need a reminder of why we live here and what is to come for our spring and summer.

To that end, I was daydreaming today, cruising videos of Candlewood Lake in the summer and I found a Youtube video from 2020. It was posted by Olini Media and, in less than two years it has almost 5,000 views

For all my talk about how much I love the lake, I’ve not spent much time on it the last few summers. I need to make this a priority for summer 2022. So, if you have a boat, call me, I’ll buy the gas and the hooch.

There are tons of these videos on Youtube that are worth checking out if you need to remember why you love this area.

I did an article about the one below in 2020 and it blew up, not because of my wonderful writing, it's because women in bikinis always moves the needle.

Trust me, this winter will be a distant memory soon.

P.S. I mentioned my trip to Massachusetts and I think Boston is a fun city, if you can overlook the stupid Red Sox logo on every single surface. If you do decide to go, don't go during winter like I keep doing. Last year, we went just because, this year my son had a track meet, and years ago I went on Halloween. I have no idea what the place looks like with leaves on the trees. I'll bet it's even more fun if you go when you the wind is not blowing fifty knots.

The Girl Scouts of Connecticut decided to sell the property along with Camp Katoya in Milford and use money from the sale to improve other Girl Scout facilities.

Behind the Walls of CT's Abandoned Norwich State Hospital

In this day and age, mental health treatment is serious business and in most cases, patients are treated with care and respect. This was not always the case in the U.S. and hospitals dedicated to the "mentally ill" became prisons that regularly conducted torture. America is now littered with shuttered hospitals decaying from the inside and the outside. Many believe these places still contain the dark energy left behind by the gruesome acts of the past. One of these places in Norwich State Hospital.
