The Worst Frozen Pizza in the Country is Sold All Over Connecticut
What's one thing Connecticut is consistently good at? Pizza. Everyone who is from here knows that and people who aren't from here also know that.
The recent news headlines are showing that New Jersey is coming back at us that we aren't actually the pizza capitol, but I think we all know that's a bunch of B.S. Now sometimes we don't always have time for the delicious pizza our state has to offer. Picking it up or eating out might not be an option, you may not want to spend the money, so you result to the most convenient option - frozen pizza.
Now, frozen pizza will never be as good as the real thing, I think we can all agree to that. But there are some that really aren't bad. 247 Wall Street came out with a list of some of the best and worst brands so I had to see what we were working with.
First I'm going to start with some of the best frozen pizza brands. According to the article, Freschetta, Newman's Own, Amy's, Red Baron, and Tombstone were all the highest ranked brands. To be honest, the only one I've had out of that list is Newman's and I would've expected it to be there. I like the quality of Newman's over many other brands.
Now to look at some of the worst. What surprised me was Trader Joe's came in at number 5 on that list. It's said that the quality has not lived up to what people have come to expect from Trader Joe's.
Another surprising one was at number 3 - Whole Foods took the spot for that one. This pizza is said to have bad crust and the sauce tastes a bit "pasty." I guess that is something to keep in mind next time you are walking through Whole Foods and deciding what you want for a quick dinner. Maybe the Whole Foods brand isn't the way to go.
The brand to make the worst frozen pizza was Totino's. Now, this brand is everywhere because everyone loves the Totino's pizza rolls. They are a staple as a child. One thing the article focuses on is the ingredients in the frozen pizza. For a frozen pepperoni pizza from Totino's, there are over 70 ingredients. The third ingredient is said to be imitation cheese which has 16 ingredients of its own. People also come to say that the taste is just as bad as the ingredients. Totino's is sold all over Connecticut in big retailers including Walmart, Target, Acme, Family Dollar, Market 32, etc. You can probably also find it in your local grocery stores.
I'm going to continue sticking to my pizza from our local pizza shops. I understand people who have no time and need a quick bite to eat, but now you can think about which brands you like best and maybe which ones aren't the best to eat. See ya in New Haven soon.
