Google recently put out its list of the top words each state has trouble spelling. In the end there was plenty of shame to go around but you will not believe which word Connecticut people ask for help with the most.

Here are some of the national highlights first:

  • Nevada has trouble with the word "internet" so they use the internet to clear things up.
  • Utah can't spell "Mississippi." I'm not completely mad at that but there is a simple song that makes it easy and apparently Utah did not get the memo on that.
  • Nebraska cannot spell "California." Nor would they want to, so just put it out of your mind.
  • Maryland can't spell "Pennsylvania." Attention Maryland, when in doubt, hit em' with the PA.
  • Our neighbors in New York have difficulty spelling "aesthetic." That's nothing to be ashamed of, that word was never constructed correctly in my opinion.
  • New Jersey residents ask Google for help with "experience."
  • California can't spell the word "pretty." Just take a minute with that one. The pretty people don't know how to spell pretty. I'd love to see the failed attempts.
  • Hawaii cannot spell "squirrel." That actually makes a lot of sense to me. When was the last time you saw a gaggle of squirrels in Hawaii?

And now, Connecticut's most embarrassing moment since being tricked into thinking the New England Patriots would call the Nutmeg State home......Connecticut residents ask Google how to spell "Monster" more than any other word.

P.S. You're damn right I spell-checked the s--- out of this article.
