Here in Connecticut, we're good at only a few things. So those few things, we really like to highlight.

We've said time and time again that we're lucky to have a very good food scene here. There are many fun and unique restaurants around the state, and we're home to some of the best of the best.

I came across a list on Love Food that highlights the best foodie towns around the country and Connecticut's was no surprise to me. New Haven took the crown for our state. I know, a lot of locals will look at this and roll their eyes, but in actuality, New Haven has so many great local restaurants that are outside of the national eye. Take away New Haven pizza and Louis Lunch and I still think New Haven is a great hotspot for local restaurants.

There are multiple types of restaurants as well as any sort of food you can think of. If you're in New Haven and looking for something specific, I'm almost positive that you'll be able to find it. I've gone to some really awesome and unique restaurants in New Haven that I can't find anywhere else.

The blurb that Love Food said about New Haven was:

No round-up of America's greatest foodie cities would be complete without the one that invented the hamburger. As recognized by the Library of Congress, the all-American comfort food was born at Louis' Lunch (pictured) when a passing customer needed a quick meal on the go. Fast-forward more than a century, and the down-to-earth spot is still going strong – but these days, New Haven's food scene has grown way beyond burgers. Visit for Mexican street food at Camacho Garage, top-notch New Haven–style pizza at Frank Pepe's, and an imaginative New American menu at Tavern on State.

You really can't go wrong when picking a restaurant in New Haven. Your options are endless. Even if you want to stay away from the typical ones that have all of the national attention, I still don't think you'll be disappointed.

If you had to choose a place in Connecticut that was considered the best foodie town, what would you choose?
