Almost one year after reopening their wonderful Peabody Museum of Natural History to the public, Yale University will again reopen the doors to another one of their freshly renovated Museums this weekend.

Connecticut is a wonderful place for those who appreciate artists and museums housing their work, we have multiple world-class museums in our state. Yale University in New Haven has one of the best natural history museums in the world - Peabody Museum of Natural History. The Peabody was temporarily closed for a four-year renovation and opened up in March 2024. Well, Yale University will do it again tomorrow.

The Yale Center for British Art, which houses the largest collection of British art in the world outside of the United Kingdom, has been temporarily closed for the past two years. The Museum, located at 1080 Chapel Street in downtown New Haven, has been closed since February 2023 as the museum has undergone a major conservation project, but it's complete, and the Museum will reopen to the public tomorrow, Saturday, March 29, 2025. A weekend full of grand reopening event are planned, as well as two new exhibitions over the next month.

What Was Done During the Two Year Closure?

Do you remember the plexiglass skylights at the Museum? They were a part of the design of the building, but over the decades they didn't hold up well to that Chapel Street weather, so they've all been replaced, there were over 200 of them. Workers also replaced all of the old halogen bulbs with LED lighting in the building, which was completed in the mid 1970's.

Truly a treasure of the world, and a crown jewel of Connecticut.
