Just a few years ago, we reported that the Book Nook in New Milford might have to close forever unless a buyer stepped up. Now the popular book store is for sale again and facing that same fate.

Back in January of 2018, Brookfield resident Terry Sherrer stepped up and saved the store by buying the Book Nook from former New Milford Mayor David Gronbach and his wife, Vanessa.

Now a little over a year later, the store is up for sale again, and this time, it's due to an out-of-state move. Terry's husband got a job offer in Vermont that he just can't refuse. But that means the Book Nook would have to go back on the market.

Sherrer made the news official with a letter to the media earlier this month and told me first hand what's going on:

The store is now officially back on the market. We need to make our move by the fall, and I'm really hoping that someone can step up and take over. We've done a lot in the short time we've had the store.

We put in the train that goes around the top part of the store, we totally redid the kids section and added other things like magnetic poetry, magnetic puppets, wooden bandstand decorations, locally made candles and organic children’s toys.

I really didn't know what to expect when we first took over, but it's been a tremendous experience.

Terry also says she will miss the day-to-day operation of the store and the relationships she has built with the stores customers. But the one thing that she's really hoping for is for someone to do what she did a little over a year ago and buy the store so it doesn't have to close forever.

Interested parties can call Terry at the Bank Street Book Nook at (860) 354-3865.
