A unique opportunity has just been announced for you to enjoy the full Strawberry Moon from one of the best views in all of Connecticut.

According to the forecast it should be one of the most beautiful nights of the year tomorrow night (June 11, 2025), with clear skies and temps in the mid-70's at sunset. With clear skies in the forecast, there are two things happening over our heads that will put on a spectacular show - the full Strawberry Moon, and we're going to have a great view of the Milky Way as we approach the summer solstice.

The best views in all of Connecticut are going to temporarily open up just in time for these events. Meriden Parks & Recreation has just announced that they are bringing back their popular Castle Craig Full Moon Viewing event tomorrow night. For those who have never been on 691 before, Castle Craig is the big observation tower that sits upon East Peak in the Hanging Hills in Meriden's Hubbard Park, and on clear days you have an unobstructed view 1,000 feet up of most of central Connecticut from Long Island Sound all the way to Hartford, Springfield, Mass and the Berkshires.

The best time to view tomorrow night's Strawberry Moon is just aas it's rising, which should be around a half an hour after sunset. Meriden Parks & Rec will open the gates to the Vehicle Access Road tomorrow afternoon, and keep the gate open until 9:30PM. You will have a couple of hours if you get there early enough to enjoy the last glimpses of sunset before the gates close at 10PM.
