The Best Doughnuts in Connecticut Are Found at a 50’s-Style Diner
I say this a lot, but everyone's opinions are different. Something I may think is great, others may think it's not. That's fine. That's the beauty of opinions. I say this a lot, yet people still reach out telling us our opinions are wrong. This right here is a perfect example of what someone deems as their favorite, I may not necessarily agree.
I came across a list from Taste of Home talking about the best doughnuts around the country. I love going around and trying new doughnuts. It's actually a lot of fun to do. Doughnuts are so unique, so being in different states and finding a local doughnut shop is fun. We usually buy 4 doughnuts and try a bite of each and rank which is the best. If you've never done it before, I definitely recommend.

As I was scrolling the list, some of these doughnuts look to-die-for. I am going to have to keep this in my back pocket for when I visit my next state. I will have to try the shop that's on the list. Something I found interesting, though, was Connecticut's choice. When I hear "best doughnuts in Connecticut," I commonly hear Neils Donuts in Wallingford (which I can agree with - they are amazing), or Rise Doughnut in Wilton (I've still never been, but that will change soon). This list had a different answer.
According to the list, the best doughnut in Connecticut is Dottie's Diner in Woodbury. The blurb had this to say about them -
This '50's-style diner is home to done-right classic doughnuts that have caught the eye of just about everyone in the state. The wholesome, made-from-scratch treats can be ordered plain for dunking in coffee or topped with yummy chocolate or powdered sugar.
Now, I've had these doughnuts before. They are good, don't get me wrong, but they are not my absolute favorite. They are more of a classic style than a fluffy one. Would I name them best in Connecticut? Not really. But that circles back to my comment at the beginning of my article. My opinion may be different than someone else's and that's okay.
If you've never been to Dottie's Diner, it is a diner that has been a local favorite since 1934. What was originally Phillips Diner, known for their famous donuts and chicken pot pie, it was then purchased in 2006 and became Dottie's Diner.
If you're looking to try their famous donuts, you can find them at 787 Main Street S. in Woodbury on Monday through Sundays from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
