Actor Chadwick Boseman died due to complications from colon cancer on Friday. Boseman was just 43 years old. Boseman played Jackie Robinson in 42, but is best known for his role as Black Panther in the Avengers films.

Boseman never went public with his four year cancer battle and his passing was announced on his Twitter:

It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick.  [He] was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2016, [and] it progressed with Stage 4.

His cast-mates, friends and fellow superheros paid tribute to him over the weekend.

'The Avengers' Paid Tribute to Chadwick Boseman AKA 'Black Panther'

It's an extremely sad thing to see someone die so young and it must have been difficult for him to not only go through this battle, but to keep it a secret from the public. I loved the Back Panther movie and his portrayal of Jackie Robinson, Boseman was an extremely talented guy. R.I.P. Black Panther.
