Super Fight Trash Talk Reaches New Low
Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will fight in Las Vegas on August 26th. I tell you that in case you have been living under a rock. The two have been promoting the eagerly anticipated super fight on a promotional tour around the globe. These two fighters have traded one low blow after another and the other day it went even lower.
According to USA Today Floyd Mayweather called Conor McGregor an anti gay slur during the tour's finale in London on Friday. This after Conor made what some considered to be racist remarks to Floyd on previous tour stops.
Well no one expected any witty banter or genius dialogue to come out of this but how it ended was really not a great advertisement for the sport of boxing. While I look forward to seeing this fight I think it's safe to say there are no heroes to root for here.
It's safe to say that Floyd is not smart enough to see what we now see in him. He's so insecure he has to dog on other people's lives to make him feel better about him. In fairness, as much as I am a fan of Conor he was dancing on a fine line himself. Maybe don't give them live mics next time.
P.S. - The USA Today article features a twitter quote from a high school friend of mine. He is an LGBTQ activist and high profile basketball coach named Anthony Nicodemo. Pretty cool.
