Study Says This is the Most Misspelled Word in Connecticut for 2025

What's an everyday word that you have trouble spelling? For me it's restaurant, but according to a new study, most in Connecticut have a tough time with a word that begins with S.

The Scripps National Spelling Bee 2025 is underway now until May 30th in Maryland, and if you think you can get anywhere near that stage to compete for the title live on ESPN, I'm here to tell you that you have no chance. As good as you think you are at country of origin or use in a sentence, there are 9-year-old geniuses that will destroy your morale.

The good news is, you're probably smarter than most. I just received a new study from wordunscrambler.pro that lists the most common misspelt words in Connecticut and all of the US for the first 6 months of 2025. To arrive at their rankings, the experts at wordunscramlber.pro analyzed data from Google Trends to find the words in each state that users used Google to figure out how to spell. According to their research, Schedule is the most misspelled word for residents of Connecticut between January 1 and May 15, 2025.

The Top 5 misspelled words overall in the US for that same time period are"

  1. Definite
  2. Separate
  3. Necessary
  4. Believe
  5. Through

Rounding out the Top 10 were Gorgeous, Neighbor, Business, Favorite, and Restaurant. I don't feel so bad now. Connecticut stands alone with it's difficulty spelling Schedule, the only state among the 50. Massachusetts has a tough time with Beautiful, while New Yorkers can't spell Different. My favorite on the list? Even Hawaiian's can't spell LUAU.
