Study Ranks Connecticut as ‘7th Happiest State in America’ 2024
Are you happy? Do you live in a good neighborhood with friendly neighbors? I do, and you probably do too. A new study has just ranked Connecticut as the 7th Happiest State in American for 2024.
Despite the road rage that you encounter along I-84 in Southbury, the impatient fast-walkers at SoNo Collection, and our unwillingness to be background on your social media at Parkville Market, most of the faces that I encounter outside of my home are friendly. Are people actually happier if they move to a warmer, seaside climate? Are New Jersey residents a little more patient than Virginians? WalletHub.com wanted to find out which states are the happiest in 2024 and did the research. They've compared all 50 states across three key dimension - Emotional & Physical Well-Being, Work Environment, and Community & Environment.
WalletHub.com evaluated those dimensions using 30 relevant metrics such as life expectancy, share of adults feeling active and productive, adequate sleep rate, share of adult depression, number of hours worked, underemployment rate, income growth, economic security, ideal weather, and volunteer rates, and ranked the states on a 100 point scale to determine Happiest States in America in 2024.
Connecticut landed at #7 overall, ranked at #6 in Emotional & Physical Well-Being, at #16 in Work Environment, and #21 in Community & Environment metric. We were the highest scoring state in New England, Massachusetts landed at #10. Connecticut's lowest scoring metric was Income Growth, where we ranked #47 out of #50. The happiest state for 2024? Hawaii was #1, and Louisiana landed at the bottom at #50.
