Study Lists Unique Choice as the Most Popular Beer in Connecticut
As we get ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day weekend with tall pint of Guiness a recent study has come out that lists a nationally unique choice as the most popular beer in Connecticut.
According to the study The Most Popular Beers Across the U.S. from Coffeeness.de, which used data from Google Trends, and YouGuv's Popularity Ratings, the most popular beer in Connecticut is Corona. Connecticut is the only state in all of the US where Corona came in as its most popular beer. Only one other state had a unique most popular beer - Colorado, with Blue Moon.
Coffeeness.de's study makes note of the uniqueness of Connecticut and Colorado's most popular beer, saying that it's fascinating that a Mexican lager most associated with tropical beach lifestyle could be so popular in New England. The authors say that their finding "Could reflect Connecticut's coastal geography and beach culture along Long Island Sound, demographic factors including Hispanic populations in Hartford and Bridgeport, or simply effective marketing."
Now that you mention it coffeeness.de, one of my favorite Christmastime commercials is the Corona spot with the palm tree lit up in lights. Quite effective marketing.

Overall, Miller is the most popular beer in the US according to Ceffeeness.de's study, winning in 30 out of 50 states. Coors came in second with eight states, Guiness with 3, and two states each chose Heineken, Busch, Budweiser, and Bud Light. It's the slice of lemon or lime, us sun-deprived Yankees need our Vitamin C with our beer.
