The COVID-19 pandemic has cost many people from Connecticut their jobs, and more and more stores are closing everyday. Now, here comes Stop & Shop to the rescue.

The grocery chain announced earlier this week that they would be hiring for thousands of permanent positions with their stores in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. In Connecticut alone, the company is looking to fill some one thousand jobs. The grocery business is one of the few businesses that's able to reach out and hire people while other companies are letting people go, and a lot of that is because all through the pandemic, people continue to do their grocery shopping in store, plus, there's definitely been an increase in online services like pea pod and instacart.

According to newstimes.com, the chain is looking to hire people in a number of different departments, including jobs in the bakery, the deli, the seafood and produce departments, as well as front end, night crew, delivery drivers, and shoppers for their online services.

The new positions include full benefits, including new COVID-19 health, extended care, and leave benefits, including time off if you have to quarantine.
