Summer Heat Meets Halloween Excitement In Connecticut
We're just getting into the dog days of the summer '25, today was another 90 degree day. Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont announced just yesterday that our sales tax free week starts this Sunday, August 17. Even though it's hot and humid, start thinking about sweater weather, it's coming. Need proof? I just got an answer that some of you have been waiting for.

Spirit Halloween stores are only in our lives for a brief window from the middle of August until November each year. According to the latest news on spirithalloween.com, 15 Halloween Spirit stores will open across Connecticut 'In August', but one is already up and running.
Three Spirit Halloween locations in Connecticut have already opened - Stamford, Enfield, and Danbury. The Stamford store is located inside the former Party City building at 2275 Summer Street, the Danbury location in the former Eastern Mountain Sports on Backus Ave, and Enfield at 25 Hazard Ave.
When are the Other Twelve Connecticut Locations Opening?
I was just in Torrington Plaza a few minutes ago as a couple of employees were walking out of the soon-to-be Spirit Halloween - Torrington. I dared to ask "Hey, when are you going to open up", and I have an 'Unofficial/Official" Answer - 'Next Week'.
Have you already started thinking about costume in this humid weather? Good for you, be prepared, shop early and look for these. According to goodhousekeeping.com, the hottest costume ideas for Halloween 2025 are: a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, a Stanley Quencher, Caitlin Clark, Wednesday Addams, and Elphaba from Wicked.
