Elon Musk Says SpaceX Will Take Civilian to the Moon in 2023
According to Reuters Elon Musk announced the name of the private citizen who will travel around the moon aboard the forthcoming "Big Falcon Rocket." Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa will be the first Space X customer to get an up close look at the moon in 2023.
Maezawa, pictured above with Musk, is a fashion guru and founder of the fashion site Zozo. There is no word on what Yusaku Maezawa will pay for his trip around the moon but he plans to take along six to eight artists to join him on the flight.
OK, so we are just going to the moon now? I mean I hear about it all the time, everyone says regular people will be going to the moon but now it's starting to get real. They are naming names.
It's not just Maezawa, the article says that both Leonardo Dicaprio and Justin Bieber have their sub-orbital flights booked with Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic. Gilbert friggin' Grape and someone they refer to as "Biebs" are going to space? I don't like it.
I mean, I wanna go to the moon. Why should a dude who sells a lot of pants get to go and I don't? Bieber sings crap songs and makes poor decisions and he gets to go to into space?
Maybe it's for the best and I just wait until the price drops, like a lot. It's also probably not in my best interest to put my life in the hands of Elon Musk. Despite the man's obvious business success he has not exactly been making "killer" choices lately.
I have to come to terms with the fact that although the future is here I still probably won't make it to the moon. I can live with that as long as I get a pair of Elroy's gravity boots.
And if I can't have the boots I'll settle for a round of golf with this young lady.
