A new study from Dating News reveals some surprising findings about modern dating preferences—especially when it comes to first dates. While it's no secret that many people are willing to spend big bucks on a fancy dinner, the idea of grabbing fast food on a first date? Apparently, that's not as uncommon as you'd think.

According to a survey of 3,000 single men and women, 54% of men and a surprising 66% of women said they’d be totally fine with having fast food on a first date. And it gets even more interesting—56% of respondents said they’d be up for splitting the bill, meaning no awkward "who pays?" moments at the counter.

So what’s the best fast food spot for a first date? Well, it turns out people have some strong opinions. The clear winner is Chick-fil-A, which topped the list in 31 states. If you’re looking to make a solid first impression, a chicken sandwich might just do the trick.

Not far behind, McDonald's came in second, with a first-place ranking in six states: Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Washington. Seems like Big Macs are still a classic choice for date night!

Dating News says:

But just how many American men would look to take their date to one of the above fast food chains? Approximately 54% of our survey respondents said they would be up for the idea, while a remarkable 66% of women said they would say yes if a man asked them out to somewhere like McDonald’s.

Then there’s Dairy Queen, which is the #1 pick in five states—Colorado, Connecticut, Kansas, North Dakota, and Utah. You might not think of DQ as a go-to for romance, but apparently, the ice cream and blizzards are winning people over.

While the fast food scene varies state to state, it's clear that people are getting more flexible about where they go on a first date. Whether you’re grabbing a chicken nugget or a sub, it seems like the goal is simple: enjoy the moment without stressing over the price tag.

Here were the top choices in the Tri-State area:
  • New York - Chick-fil-A
  • New Jersey - Chick-fil-A
  • Connecticut - Dairy Queen
Times, they are a-changing. If you took a woman to McDonald's on a first date back in my day, you'd never live that down. That is precisely the kind of thing that women would call their girlfriends about and have you blackballed.
