Connecticut is a premiere road trip destination and that is not just my amazing opinion, it's backed up by a new study. Insurify recently conducted research to find the best States for a Road Trip and the Nutmeg State was a standout.

Insurify examined a variety of factors like road conditions, gas prices and attractions in all 50 states and when they were done crunching the numbers, CT was Top 10 in the U.S.

Top 10 Best Road Trip States:

10. North Carolina

9. Illinois

8. Indiana

7. Arkansas

6. Connecticut

5. South Carolina

4. Delaware

3. New Jersey

2. Maryland

1. Florida

They also determined that California was the most scenic state, New Jersey is the safest and Oklahoma is the most affordable. This Connecticut victory does not surprise me one bit. Connecticut is loaded with scenic roads, sleepy villages, rolling mountains and eye-popping colors in all seasons.

People don't give Connecticut enough credit, this is one pretty place to be.

Worst Road Trip States:

45. New Hampshire

46. Rhode Island

47. West Virginia

48. Michigan

49. Alabama

50. Colorado

I'm surprised New York did not make the Top 10 Best list, I think they were robbed!

Insurify's Methodology

"Insurify’s data scientists created a comprehensive index to identify the best states for a road trip in 2024, using four sub-indexes: most scenic, safest, most affordable, and most adventurous.

The weighting of each data point in each index was considered and altered to allow for the fairest overview of the best states for a road trip in 2024."

Historic and Eerie: Exploring the Secrets of Connecticut’s Seaside Sanatorium

Connecticut's Seaside Sanatorium is one of many historic structures in America that once housed the ill but are now fading into obscurity. While there are plans to save the building, years of litigation and disagreement have delayed progress. For now, it stands as a haunting reminder of a darker period in American medicine. Some may refer to it as a less enlightened era. Here’s a glimpse inside the walls of Seaside and a brief history from its beginnings to the present day.
