R.I.P. Grumpy Cat — An Internet Icon Has Passed Away

According to CNN, internet sensation "Grumpy Cat" passed away today (5/17/19) at the age of 7. The cats owner Tabatha Bundesen had this to say about her friends passing:

Besides being our baby and a cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people smile all around the world — even when times were tough.

Sad news, I'm not a cat person, this is a well documented piece of information. However, I felt a kinship with Grumpy Cat. I understood her. This cat and I are part of a larger fraternity of humans and animals that know grumpy is an operating system. Grumpiness is how I get by and it's how "Grumpy Cat" got by.

Plus those eyes, behind the thin veneer of malaise was something more, something special. Cats can "go scratch" for the most part. I can't hang with a bunch of lazy animals that show affection when it's good for them. "Grumpy Cat" transcended her feline DNA, she was cool a chick. If I could get a written guarantee that my cat would be like "Grumpy Cat" you better believe I'd have one.

R.I.P. Grump, you will be missed.
