Passengers on an American Eagle flight 5811 landing in Rochester, NY were left shaken after the airline said snowy conditions caused the plane to "exit the taxiway".

Airplane safety has lately been a hot button topic after an emergency exit door plug on an Alaska Airplanes flight recently detached mid-flight, leaving a gaping hole in the fuselage while the plane was roughly 16,000 feet in the air. Passengers in Rochester, NY shared photos and video of their own ordeal.

Plane Slides Off Runway in Rochester, NY

Miraculously, no one was seriously injured, with emergency crews in Rochester, NY responding quickly and assisting passengers with exiting the plane that found itself off the runway and sitting in the snowy lawn beyond.


Emergency Crews Respond to Plane in Rochester, NY

53 people, including three crew members, were all safely evacuated from the plane. Video (below) shows passengers exiting the plane's stairway, with snow seemingly covering both the paved runway and the grass where the plane eventually came to rest.
