Bed Bugs Discovered at Waterbury School, Officials Say

WFSB has reported that both school and health officials have reported a case of bed bugs at a Waterbury school.

The bed bugs were discovered at Waterbury Career Academy and health officials are asking parents not to panic saying there is no risk of harm to students or staff but they are certainly icky little creatures.

These little buggers do not transmit diseases and do not pose any immediate health risks. Bed bug bites can cause scratching or potential infection.

School officials told WFSB they are following bed bug protocol by bringing in health officials to clean up the affected area in a third-floor classroom.

Imagine receiving a message from your high-schooler saying, "Hey ma, you gotta come and get me. They found bed bugs on the third floor!" Needless to say, parents were seen picking their kids up from school throughout the day.
