Damn, as soon as I start liking something lately, it disappears. I just found out that the only restaurant in Norfolk, Connecticut is closing for good at the end of January 2026.

Northern Litchfield County is unpopulated, and with that comes a lack of everyday services that we've gotten used to around the rest of Connecticut. There aren't many gas stations, virtually no big box retailers, no fast food, and sit-down restaurants? There are some of the best in the state, but there is not a glut of talent.

Have you been to Norfolk's Infinity Music Hall? It's a wonderful small venue that caters to those of us on the Northern end of Rt. 8 that don't want to travel to Hartford of Bridgeport for a show. Norfolk is a very small town with a very nice venue, and before the pandemic Infinity Music Hall had a Bistro in Norfolk, but... So, the only sit-down restaurant in Norfolk after 2021 was the Norfolk Pub. Norfolk Pub is located in the building right next to Infinity, but as of January 31, 2026, the building that houses Norfolk Pub will be under new ownership, and the new owners have plans that don't involve the town's only restaurant.

It happens, every day, everywhere. But when business removes the best French Dip sandwich in 1 30-mile radius, it hurts. The public uproar about this move is building, as folks that live closer to the restaurant are realizing that they're going to have to travel to Winsted, Litchfield, or Torrington (Shudder..) to enjoy wings and pub fare. I hope that Infinity realizes that those of us that enjoy seeing a show at their facility want a place to grab a quick bite? Bring back the Bistro Infinity Norfolk, or better yet, bring in the Norfolk Pub.

I Finally Gave In and Ate a Piece of Waterbury Restaurant History

The Grotto Restaurant was a simple Italian food institution on Waterbury's Watertown Avenue for most of my life until it permanently closed 2 years ago in the Summer of 2023. I had a package of frozen ravioli from the Grotto in my freezer for the past two years, it's finally time to say goodbye to the last piece of pasta I've held on to for so long. Join me.
