How big a presence are we talking about? We are talking about two levels of red-circled bliss for patrons of this particular purveyor of products. According to Ripco Real Estate, Target is going in the former Sears location at, real estate investment company, Macerich's Danbury Fair and will be a 126,000 square-foot store with not one, but two levels for intense retail therapy. Here is a quote from Ed Coppola, Macerich President to Ripco...

“Target coming to Danbury Fair is the latest anchor-replacement success for Macerich’s A-quality portfolio of regional town centers. The terrific merchandise mix and attractive demographics surrounding Danbury Fair make this property a great match for all that Target has to offer.”

-Ed Coppola, Macerich President

Target taking the space left empty by Sears is a part of the company's trend in the Northeast and nationwide. According to an article from Chain Store Age:

Target opened nearly 30 new stores in the United States during the height of the pandemic in 2020 to 2021, taking its total to 1,926 last year.

Target opened a three-level palace in a former J.C. Penney at King's Plaza in Brooklyn recently and now the Danbury location at the mall. Unfortunately, the plans are just now getting to the finalization range so they will not be open for the Christmas Season of 2022, more like some time in 2023 if all goes well. Target will join Macy's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Primark, Pottery Barn, and over 180 more shops at Danbury Fair making it one of the premiere destinations for shopping and only 55 miles from the Big Apple.
