New Milford Mayor Pete Bass Appears Unaware of His Popularity
I've been co-hosting the I-95 Morning Show for 15 years.
In that time, I've had the great pleasure of interviewing local leaders and politicians at all levels of the State of CT, right up to the Governor. After each interview ends, there is an inevitable chore of dealing with upset listeners. These folks will stop what they are doing to reach out and tell you how much they dislike the politician, for whatever reason. This has never happened after a Pete Bass segment.
I've also seen Bass at events interacting with folks who admire him and it is obvious. To say that Pete Bass is a likable guy is an understatement, people love this dude. Whenever I encounter folks like this I wonder if they know? Does Pete Bass know people like him? We asked him that very question on the Tuesday (4/11/23) edition of the I-95 Morning Show, this is what he had to say:
"I don't really feel that, I mean it's great talking with everybody and great to be able to help people and this is just a wonderful community up here. It's very close knit, everybody tries to work together to make the town a better place. So, it's just wonderful to be able to participate"
Listen to the Mayor's extended answer below where I point out that his wife even likes him.
Below is our full discussion with New Milford Mayor Pete Bass. We also discussed his plans for the town river walk, a proposal for a residential building on Church Street, a new fast food chain coming to town and his beloved New York Jets.
I say all of this sincerely and I apologize in advance because it's inviting people to say I "don't like him" but that is just a social media reflex. A lot of people on social media (Facebook) need to feel they're not part of a herd of sheep.
P.S. Not all of the response we get to the politicians is negative. It's actually overwhelmingly positive. People usually thank us for giving them a look at these people with their guard down. It's just like anything else, in a crowded room at least one person is not going to be happy.
