New Milford Man Arrested For Wild Rt. 7 Road Rage Incident
A 55-year-old man from New Milford has been arrested for allegedly punching a 78-year-old man in the face following a wild road rage incident/crash that occurred this weekend on the Route 7 connector near Exit 11 in Brookfield.
For those of us who use Super 7 to fly between Danbury, Brookfield, and New Milford every day, road rage is expected? But the Connecticut State Police have just announced that on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:44am, Troopers from Troop A in Southbury received calls about a motor vehicle accident on Route 7 South near Exit 11 in Brookfield.
Upon arrival, Troopers found a 78-year-old unidentified man who reported that while he was traveling in the right lane, he had attempted to merge into the left lane, but a blue BMW in the left lane suddenly accelerated and blocked him. As the 78-year-old pulled in behind the blue BMW, the BMW's driver slammed on his brakes. The situation escalated when the BMW side-swiped the 78-year old's vehicle. According to the elderly victim, the BMW spun out across the median after the sideswipe, and then the BMW rear-ended him on the right shoulder. The victim then reported that the driver of the blue BMW opened his door, punched him in the face, grabbed and smashed his cellphone, and fled the scene.
With the assistance of the New Milford Police Department, Troopers have located, and arrested the driver of the blue BMW and have identified him as 55-year-old Jason Maisonave of New Milford. Maisonave has been charged with Reckless Driving, Evading Responsibility with Physical Injury, Failure to Drive on the Right Side of the Roadway, Improper Acceleration while Being Passed, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, Criminal Mischief, Assault of an Elderly Victim, and Reckless Endangerment. Maisonave was released on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on 12/19/24.
