New Milford Hosts Teen-Only Spooky Movie Night on Friday the 13th

One of my favorite things to do when I was a teenager was watching scary movies in a safe place with friends. There are only a few events that cater exclusively to teens in 2024, but 'The Greatest City in the USA' - New Milford, Connecticut will roll out the red carpet for it's teenagers this weekend.

New Milford Mayor Pete Bass has announced that New Milford Parks & Rec and New Milford Youth Agency's Student Advisory Board will present Friday the 13th Teen Movie Night at the Lake this Friday night, September 13, 2024, at Lynn Deming Park in town from 7-10PM. The event is free to attend, but it's intended for teenagers only. They will be serving ice cream, there will be food trucks, and you can enjoy free popcorn courtesy of the Bank Street Theater. The Be Kind Movie Vault has provided a copy of Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives for everyone to enjoy.

Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives was originally released in 1986, is widely considered one of the best of the Friday the 13th franchise films, and features Connecticut's own Ron "Horshack" Palillo in a small role. Here's a fun fact for the cautious parents of impressionable teens - Jason Lives is the only Friday the 13th film that does not contain nudity, according to wikipedia.com both actors are fully clothed in the film's sole sex scene. It is a horror film, there may not be nudity, but there will be plenty of scenes involving gore.

The End Has Truly Begun at Torrington's Doomed Stop & Shop

Although the reported closing date is "By Halloween" the long, slow death of the closest grocery store to my place in Torrington has truly begun. I took a walk around to do some bargain hunting, have a look.
