According to a March 6, 2025, press release from Chipotle, the fast-casual chain is spicing things up with a new menu item: Chipotle Honey Chicken. This sweet and spicy combo, featuring a mix of chipotle heat and wildflower honey, was reportedly a big hit during tests in Nashville and Sacramento last year.

The new Chipotle Honey Chicken dish first hit menus in Connecticut and around North America on March 7th and appears to have the ingredients to stand the test of time. The dish is made with grilled chicken seasoned with Mexican spices and marinated in seared chipotle peppers and honey. Experts at the National Restaurant Association AKA "they" are saying that hot honey is the flavor of the year, and Chipotle wants to capitalize on that trend.

DISCLAIMER: I dig Chipotle, and I believe that burritos are the 2nd best delivery vehicle for meats and cheeses to one's face.

Takeaways:

What's up with Bowls? - This Chipotle Honey Chicken dish appears to be a bowl. When did bowls become "the thing" and how soon can we stop that from happening? Bowls are inferior to sandwiches and burritos. Why do we even bother with bowls? It's like ice cream cake v. cake, it's a beatdown. The first time someone crafted a cake out of ice cream, traditional cakes should have been banned for production and sale in the U.S. We don't need them; it's a waste of time. Regular cakes are a huge disappointment, as soon as you see one, you're angry at the person who presented it. You'll whisper under your breath; "does this person even know about ice cream?" The same applies when a bowl of food is presented versus a sandwich full of foods. Sandwiches are undefeated in America.

Trending Foods - What a world we live in, in 2025. You need TikTok to tell you what to eat? People are so interested in what is "trending" that major corporations are crafting their menus around the trends. I might sound like an old head but to hell with it, I am. I come from a time and place when quality and cravings set the market. Ask a pregnant woman if she wants to order her lunch from the "trending foods menu" and see if she doesn't attack you with a rusty machete. My body tells me things, it says French dip, it shouts pizza, and it demands Tortellini Alfredo. Follow the leader can be a good time every once in a while but has ZERO place when it comes to meals.

Tirade over.
