Connecticut welcomes a new 855,000 square foot Amazon fulfillment facility in the near future. Who needs a job?

From nbcconnecticut.com. comes great news for the state of Connecticut. Amazon has plans to build a state of the art mega fulfillment center at the site of the old Pratt & Whitney plant in North Haven, which has been vacant for 15 years. Amazon already has centers in Wallingford and Windsor Locks.

The two greatest things about this news is that Amazon will need to hire 1,500 new full time employees who will earn wages that pay 30% more than typical retail jobs. The other great thing according to Governor Malloy,

"This is a significant win for our state's taxpayers and our economy!"

The Vice President of Amazon's Northwest Operations, Akash Chauhan told nbcconnecticut that they have found "an abundance of talent in Connecticut's workforce" and they are thrilled to be building their third center here.

I absolutely love Amazon! I'm a Prime member and everything I purchase on Amazon from guitar strings, to frying pans, to boat accessories always arrive in two days with free shipping and in perfect condition, not to mention their excellent prices! Amazon has not begun the hiring process for the new North Haven facility, but it wouldn't hurt to keep your eye on Indeed.com.
