Going on a little getaway for the weekend is good for the soul. I'm a firm believer in traveling. I usually don't shut up about it and I try my best to see as many places as I can.

Not everyone is able to travel around which is completely understandable. With the economy (and location) we live in, everything is so expensive and sometimes it's just not in the cards. But hey, you don't always have to travel somewhere far. There are great places locally you can also go.

Honeymoon Always came out with a list of the Top Romantic Destinations for 2023 and a few Connecticut towns settled on that list. They got their information by surveying 3,000 couples to find lesser-known destinations that are worth the visit.

A little getaway doesn't always mean a road trip or hopping on a plane. It can mean something that is 20 minutes or an hour away. The first Connecticut town to make the list was Litchfield sitting in at number 37. Litchfield is a beautiful town, I'm just shocked it made the list before a few others. The scenery itself is beautiful, but there is also the distillery, hikes, food, history and much more.

The next Connecticut town to make the list? You guessed it. Mystic. Coming in at number 79 on the list, we all know and love Mystic. It speaks for itself and is the perfect little local getaway. There is a lot to do and see over there and it feels like you're on a mini vacation, yet it's still in the state. Would you put Litchfield before Mystic? I'm not sure.

Lastly, Kent made the list toward the bottom at number 144. I feel like Kent is also a beautiful and underrated place. It is a beautiful place to go to in the fall to see all of the colors and you have an array of state parks to choose from as well. I've heard great things about Kent Falls State Park so I really want to take a trip over there. You won't necessarily get hustle and bustle in Kent, but you will have a great, relaxing weekend.

There are probably a few more local places that can easily make this list, but I'm not going to argue with the choices given. I think they're 3 great locations for a nice little getaway.

The First Bursts of Fall Colors Have Arrived in Litchfield County

Oh my sweet hoodie, the smell of crunchy, sun-withered leaves in the 52 degree air, and those vivid bursts of color that stun us every year. I love this time of year, and the first signs of it have just appeared in New Preston, Bantam, and Litchfield.

Rich Is Better! Connecticut's 50 Wealthiest Neighborhoods 2024

You might have heard the saying, "I've been rich and I've been poor. Rich is better." While I've only experienced one side of that equation and it's not the more favorable, I still find the wealth in Connecticut intriguing. If you share my curiosity, you'll be interested to explore the 50 wealthiest neighborhoods in Connecticut. This isn't a general list of towns but a curated selection of the top 50 richest neighborhoods in the Nutmeg State, as identified by Forbes.

Note: This list covers neighborhoods ranked from 10 to 1, plus a few additional ones in the Greater-Danbury area. You can find the full list from 50 to 1 at the bottom of this article.
