According to unscramblerer.com, the most mispronounced word in Connecticut for 2025 is Sfogliatelle, which is a clamshell-shaped Italian pastry filled with a sweet, creamy filling. How did unscramblerer.com determine the most mispronounced words in America? They used Google Trends to discover the words that Americans were searching "How do you pronounce?" for and broke it down by state. Here's what our neighbors are having a tough time pronouncing:

Overall for 2025 the most mispronounced word in the United States according to Unscramblerer.com's research? Gyro, with over 312,000 searches. Worcestershire came in at #2, Acai (ah-SIGH-ee) was ranked #3, Qatar at #4, and Dachshund (DAKS-hund) rounded out the Top 5. The rest of the Top 10 included Niche (NEESH), Aoife (EE-fah) Charcuterie (shar-KOO-tuh-ree) Paczki - POONCH-kee, and Primeval.

There were a few unusual states in the rankings, or, words that the residents of said state are searching for - Florida residents are having a tough time pronouncing Staphylococcal (STAFF-uh-loh-KOK-ul), Illinois still has a tough time pronouncing Yuengling (YING-ling), and the simple folk of Wyoming are searching how to pronounce Mayonnaise (MAY-uh-nayz) more than anywhere else.
