Overall for 2025 the most mispronounced word in the United States according to Unscramblerer.com's research? Gyro, with over 312,000 searches. Worcestershire came in at #2, Acai (ah-SIGH-ee) was ranked #3, Qatar at #4, and Dachshund (DAKS-hund) rounded out the Top 5. The rest of the Top 10 included Niche (NEESH), Aoife (EE-fah) Charcuterie (shar-KOO-tuh-ree) Paczki - POONCH-kee, and Primeval.

There were a few unusual states in the rankings, or, words that the residents of said state are searching for - Florida residents are having a tough time pronouncing Staphylococcal (STAFF-uh-loh-KOK-ul), Illinois still has a tough time pronouncing Yuengling (YING-ling), and the simple folk of Wyoming are searching how to pronounce Mayonnaise (MAY-uh-nayz) more than anywhere else.
