These are some HOT off season pick up's by the New York Mets. They announced two signings Monday, bringing in Al Leiter and John Franco. This is some move, ya know, if it was 1993.

In all seriousness, the two were announced as new members of the franchise but in the front office. Al Leiter will be a special adviser to the team and Franco will act as a club ambassador.

What do they do? A special adviser, advises on baseball. A club ambassador gets checks to be a cheerleader, attend a lot of games and hang around the team. This is not unusual, it happens all over baseball but I only think it's hilarious when the Mets do it.

When the Mets should be patching TEAM holes on the field, they instead hire front office guys that walking reminders that they used to have real players. Hey, they both had lengthy careers and were reliable guys, who knows? Maybe we see em' in August?

Talking to Mets fans in March and April is wildly entertaining because they still have hope. There aren't too many things funnier than a Mets fan with hope in their heart. PLAY BALL!

Sing it with me, "Meet the Mets, meet the Mets, bring your kiddies, bring your wife, we are signing players who are at the end of their life."

"Meet the Mets, meet the Mets, bring your kiddies, bring your time machine, we are signing players who are at the end of their life."
