Metallica’s ‘Master of Puppets’ Meets ‘Macarena’ in Mash-Up Video
Metallica's "Master of Puppets" is a bottomless well of inspiration when it comes to song mash-ups and remakes. Last time, we heard a jazzy version of the title track to the band's historic 1986 record and now we've got one of the most head-scratching ones yet: "Master of Puppets" meets the Los Del Rio's "Macarena."
Somewhat mercifully, the video above clocks in at just under two minutes featuring a couple of verses from "Master of Puppets" with James Hetfield's gruff vocals laid on top of the chart-smashing 1996 dance hit's beat. The real fun is the interplay between Papa Het's voice and the "ahh-ahh" bit of "Macarena" as they trade off one another.
While Metallica have entertained some oddball cover selections ("Take on Me," "Dancing Queen") on their "WorldWired" tour, we don't suspect Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo will be adding "Macarena" to their list "doodle" cover sketch potentials.
The "WorldWired" tour will resume on Sept. 2 as the band kicks off the next North American leg in support of 2016's Hardwired... To Self-Destruct. This jaunt will run into the Spring of 2019 and to see a list of dates, head here.
