The holidays are not always an easy time. People talk about how great they are and how we get to spend them with family, etc. And while that is true, it's not always sunshine and rainbows. Financial hardship is a very real thing at this time of year. Buying gifts, hosting holidays, decorating your house - it all adds up rather quickly.

There's a good list of people that are spending the holiday season with quite a few extra dollars in their pockets. It looks like some Connecticut residents have won big this December so far from playing Connecticut Lottery. One of the luckiest, so far, was on December 5 and the winner is from Madison, Connecticut. They won $390,000 on the Lucky for Life game. The ticket was purchased at the Big Y in Guilford. According the the website, Lucky for Life is a game with a top prize of $365,000 a year for life with other prize levels from $3 to $25,000 a year for life.

Every time I see numbers like this, I think damn, when is it my turn? The problem is, I don't play. But after seeing numbers like this, it makes me want to. Imagine what an extra $390,000 can do for you at the end of the year? I don't think anyone would turn that down.

The list continues in the month of December. Without even being half way through the month, a handful of people have taken home a lumpsome of change. Three people so far have taken home $100,000 with many others sitting in that $20,000 - $40,000 range. I will take any of those amounts. Their holiday definitely just got a whole lot better.

Honestly, it makes me happy when people win big in a time of need. I just hope they give back a bit this holiday season. It may be my turn to go buy a few tickets and see if my name can be on that list next.
