Why Lou Milano’s Daughter Loves Uncle Mikey’s World

One of the joys of being a parent (that's actually joyful) is seeing your kids' reactions to the things you love. You get to see their little brains process the things you grew up loving, like classic rock, and watch as their understanding develops as they age.

Uncle Mikey's World's new children's book, Putting the Band Together, is the perfect way to introduce your kids or grandkids to music from the Beatles, Grateful Dead and so many others. The classic rock references are subtle as the plot follows Uncle Mikey and his dog, Mr. Pants, through a woodland adventure with his magic hat. I was absolutely thrilled with myself when there were certain references that I got and really upset when I couldn't figure out the others.

My daughter was captivated by it, and we've had fun listening to the songs mentioned in the book together. I can tell already it's a story she'll love hearing over and over, and it's really cute to see her dancing along as kids are apt to do.

Uncle Mikey's World is planning additional books following the adventures of Uncle Mikey, all with the goals of teaching "upcoming generations lessons in life, to be kind to each other and to keep on smiling, laughing, and learning," as the brand defines its mission. I'm glad there are kids-oriented classic rock coloring books, apparel, and more available, too.
