Levine Auto & Truck Parts is a small business success story, but make no mistake — they earned their success one sale at a time.

Irving Levine founded the company in the back of his truck in 1955, grinding away until he was able to open his first store in 1960. Irv, his wife and one employee worked from the Keeler Street location but as the operation grew, so did the family involvement. First, Irv's brother-in-law Malcolm Miller came aboard and then Irv's brother Melvine Levine.

They added a machine shop and moved to one of their current locations at 118 South St. in Danbury in 1966.

They experienced massive growth in the following decades, growing from about 20 employees in 1970 to more than 170. They have 9 locations and 85 delivery vehicles, but the Levine family knows their success is due to their customers, and they have many satisfied, repeat customers.

"So you thought real customer service was a thing of the past," Jeff Levine said. "Not at Levine Auto & Truck Parts. We really appreciate our customers; without you, we wouldn't be in business."
