This Sunday, live Rock returns to the Ives Concert Park in Danbury with the Hearts on Fire Benefit Concert featuring our longtime friends, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band.

The band became superstars with the soundtrack to the movie "Eddie and the Cruisers" in 1984, but had been rocking sold-out crowds up and down the east coast since the early 70's.

The concert benefits the Jesse Lewis Choose Love movement, established in memory of Sandy Hook shooting victim Jesse Lewis. The program's goal is to give all children access to social and emotional learning through the no cost Choose Love Enrichment Program while also “having a lot of fun.”

John Cafferty called into my show on Tuesday afternoon to talk about the upcoming concert as well as how his family got involved with the Choose Love Movement. We also talked about what the band's been up to, some old songs from the pre- "Eddie and the Cruisers" bar days making it back into the setlist, and playing a concert with Blue Oyster Cult in 110 degree weather in the desert!

You can hear the interview below. Tickets for the benefit concert are available here and at the gate at the Ives on Sunday. Gates open at 3 PM with music starting at 3:30. Opening bands will include Grateful Dead cover band the Spadtastics and singer-songwriter Doug Allen.
