Is The Future Of Heart In Doubt?

As the announcements of major classic rock summer tours continue to roll out there's one legendary band who, unfortunately, won't be heard from and that's Heart. A recent interview with guitarist Nancy Wilson has fans wondering if they'll ever see their band perform again.

Wilson appeared on "Trunk Nation", the Sirius/XM radio show hosted by Eddie Trunk, on March 16th and had some not-so-promising things to say about the future of Heart.

According to Nancy, her sister Ann Wilson is the reason why Heart won't be hitting the road in the coming months.

“I was kind of anticipating we would do another summer tour with Heart,” Nancy told Trunk. “But [Ann’s] got her cap set on something fresh and different and, ya know, in her words just more relevant to what she wants to try to do next.”

With Ann going out on a solo tour Nancy has formed a new group of her own called Roadcase Royale. Their debut single “Get Loud” was recently released and the band promises an EP’s worth of new songs to come soon along with a tour.

Nancy also revealed to Trunk that the Heart name isn’t something shared by the sisters. In fact, it’s Ann who has the legal rights to the Heart name as well as the logo. Back in 2000 she toured under the name “Heart Featuring Ann Wilson” and this summer she will be using the name and logo once again, this time touring under the name “Ann Wilson Of Heart”. For Nancy, this isn’t something she seemed all too happy about but she’s making the best of the situation.

“[Ann] took the name, she took the logo, ya know, she went running off with those things but I’m happy to kinda start from square one and get something fresh and something really inspiring and different,” Nancy told Trunk.

With no tour dates listed on the band’s website and both Wilson sisters involved with their own separate solo projects Trunk asked the question every fan wants to know – Will Heart get back together again?

“I guess only Ann’s hairdresser knows that for sure [laughs],” said Nancy. “I was ready to go out, like I said, this summer and do festivals and do Europe, um, she’s got another idea so I can’t read her mind and tell you the answer to that question.”
