I-95 Exclusive: Jim Belushi on His Hollywood Dog War With Tom Hanks
Jim Belushi & The Board of Comedy are coming to the Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, January, 25, 2025.
Show Description:
Accompanying Belushi are Megan Grano, Larry Joe Campbell and Joshua Funk*, all of whom are classically trained professional improvisers who tour regularly nationwide.
“We are not stand-up comedians. Our show is not a passive, sit-back-and-watch experience. Most of the fun we have on stage comes from our inclusion of the audience – we get suggestions from them to begin each scene we perform, and in certain instances, bring them on-stage with us to add to our performance. It’s less a ‘show’ and more a party. At least it feels like one to me. This group of actors brings me right back to how I started out in comedy – maybe that’s why we have so much fun doing it.” – Jim Belushi.
Ahead of this exciting event we got a chance to talk with Jim about the Ridgefield show and his amazing career, this was our favorite moment from that chat.
Lou: It's 1989, you're on a hot streak with movies, you come out with K-9 and it's a huge hit and three months later this m----- f----- Tom Hanks comes out with Turner & Hooch, it's the same movie, how does that happen?
Jim: "Haha, they killed the dog. YOU CAN'T KILL THE DOG TOM!"
Lou: How does that happen? It's three months apart and we see this happen all the time in Hollywood.
Jim: "Oh, studios like try and beat each other with the concepts, and there was a concept, they went to war over that and we won, we got ours out faster."
