How do You Ruin the Greatest Achievement in Your Young Life?
Carlos Correa and the Houston Astros won the World Series in 7 games. They brought Houston its first ever World Series Championship.
Carlos Correa was a huge part of the teams success throughout their playoff run. He's a young guy who has the world by the stones. Last night, he and his teammates capped the achievement that will likely be the greatest in their lives. Their names will be etched in the sports history forever. This guy stamped a real legacy and managed to screw it up minutes later.
How did he ruin it? He proposed to his girlfriend, that's how.
Listen, they may be the two most in-love people in the world. They may make it. They may grow old together and that would be great. However, when his buddies are out years from now, having a reunion dinner, celebrating this amazing achievement, Carlos will be at the local Macaroni Grill celebrating the anniversary of this very romantic moment.
Hell, forget the future, when his buddies are doing Kimmel and partying in Vegas, he will be picking out centerpieces for the wedding. Carlos will learn, in time, that this was a mistake.
Congrats on the engagement, Carlos — I guess.
Now, let me throw cold water on my whole argument. This is the only time it's appropriate to propose at a ball game. You had better have been playing in the game, it had better be the World Series, and you should be one of the stars of the team. He checked all those boxes. So what the hell do I know?
