Hidden Gems of Litchfield County: Plenty of Little Free Libraries
What have you been reading lately? For me, I've been on a big autobiography kick lately, and sports stories too. I've had a great streak of luck lately on my way home at the Little Free Library locations across Litchfield County, have you seen these hidden gems?
What exactly is a Little Free Library? It all started as a non-profit organization based out of Minnesota with the mission of expanding access to books in locations outside of a typical library. The good news is, anyone can start one up, and many have been established across the country. Hundreds of locations have popped up around the state of Connecticut, and some of the more inventive ones are in plain sight near you right now.
I can't list the hundreds of locations around the state, but I can tell you that there are numerous locations along 202. The location where I've been having the most success with autobiographies lately has been the Little Free library located in New Milford at the Union Savings Bank near the 202 Tavern. Another great one right up the street is the Little Book Cottage located at The Silo at 44 Upland Road in New Milford. Another great Little free Library is located right next to City Hall in downtown Torrington on City Hall Avenue.
