Here’s a Unique Venue for Arts & Entertainment in Connecticut

I love it when you find live music and art work from local artists in an unexpected place. I just saw a post from a surprising supporter of the art and artists of Connecticut in WIndsor Locks that made me think of them in a new light.

Sure, you can see a show at Toad's Place, take in Georgia O'Keefe at the New Britain Museum of American Art, and wander the antique trail through Woodbury, but you might discover your next favorite artist or local musician at Bradley International Airport.

According to Bradleyairport.com, BDL Art & Music is a series of live musical performances, and a mix of permanent and rotating art exhibits that will take place throughout the terminal. Right now there are permanent exhibits from Cleve Gray, Patrick Ganino, Chris Gann, and Micaela Levesque on display, and current exhibits include hand-woven fabrics, landscape and nature photography, beautiful rocking chairs and clocks.

I really appreciate that Bradley Airport is giving solo woodwind, brass, keyboard, and string instrument performers a space to perform. The upcoming slate of musicians includes pianists performing jazz, ballads, and show tunes, guitarists, ukulele, and violinists, country music singers, and a few multi-instrumentalists.

The only chance you may have at seeing Dave Matthews perform in Windsor Locks is by running into him on the concourse after he's performed down the road in Hartford or Bridgeport, but this is a nice opportunity to appreciate someone local that has just as much talent for free.
