The man, identified as 42-year-old Vito Schiavo from Waterbury, was found with a BB gun tucked into his waistband, along with some drug paraphernalia. A closer look revealed that Schiavo was not just having a rough day—he was a suspect in a previous armed robbery attempt at the same spot. To add to his troubles, he had an extraditable warrant out of New Jersey.

The Waterbury Police Department press release states:

His criminal history includes multiple arrests for firearms charges, assaults, and narcotics violations. Schiavo was arrested and charged with:
  • Carrying a Dangerous Weapon
  • Use of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Criminal Attempt Robbery 1st Degree
  • Threatening 1st Degree
  • Breach of Peace 2nd Degree
Great work by our officers and partners in keeping Waterbury safe!
On the list of stupid things a person could do, this is way up there. Bro, a BB gun? This is Waterbury we're talking about, you're lucky you came out alive-ish. Let's game this out, there are a ton of real firearms arrests each year in Waterbury, and you come with a BB gun? You might have considered the possibility that the people you were trying to rob might have a real gun of their own. Just a thought.
This crime has inspired me to rob a casino with a crayon.

Google Instant Street View is easily my favorite free application. You can take a digital cruise through the streets of Milan Italy, a drive down the PCH in California or tool around your local area without leaving your office chair. But the best use of Instant Street View is to catch unbeknownst moments. If you look long enough, hard enough, you will find some really funny things. I've spent years combing through the Greater-Danbury area Google footage and these are some of my favorite snaps.
