We're lucky over here in Greater Danbury when it comes to water. We have a beautiful lake that sits right in our back yard that we are able to take advantage of every year. People from different parts of our state don't have the advantage we have with that and I definitely don't take it for granted.

I always try to look for hidden gems or attractions around here that are considered some of the best. I came across a travel site called Places to Travel that came out with a list of the most beautiful lakes in the country. If I see attractions that are some of the best in the entire country and they're close by, they're worth it for me to visit.

The number 3 lake on that list was Lake George in New York's Adirondacks. Lake George is a staple and must-visit if you ask me. The lake is known to hit warmer temperatures in the summer months, there is loads for the family to do, and it's the perfect place for a local getaway.

The drive to Lake George from Danbury will take you about 2 hours and 45 minutes and it is well worth it. Not only will you get to experience one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, you'll get to experience so much more. There is an entire website designed to help you plan your stay in Lake George and you can see it in its entirety here.

Personally, I think Lake George is so underrated and I think I need to start adding it as a stop on one of my summer vacations.
