The 'Women's Center of Greater Danbury' held their annual fund-raising gala this past Friday evening at the 'Amber Room Colonnade' and the generosity of those who attended was astounding!

The Women's Center provides crisis intervention and support services with regard to domestic violence, sexual assault along with any other life altering traumatic situation and every single one of their services are absolutely free. I was blown away when I heard that $220,000 was raised throughout the course of the evening.

The Executive Director of the Ridgefield Playhouse, Allison Stockell and I were co-auctioneers for the live auction, which included front row seats to a Billy Joel concert at Fenway Park. The winning bid was $5,800!! That kind of generosity was prevalent throughout the entire evening. One of the items up for bid was a 'Behind the Scenes Look into the Ethan and Lou Show.' The winning bidder dropped down $800 to sit-in with Lou and I for a couple of hours. This means that individual gets the opportunity to 'see the sights, hear the jokes and smell the smells' of I-95's Ethan and Lou Show.

The entire evening was an outstanding success! When Allison and I asked who would be willing to 'Fund the Mission' for the amount of $100, over 75 bidders raised up their bid cards. It was a sight to behold! The Women's Center of Greater Danbury does amazing work for the community. To see what they're all about or to volunteer, click on wcodg.org.
