Flashback to ECW Invading Danbury Back in 2000
Recently, I watched an extensive documentary on Peacock called "The Monday Night War: WWE v. WCW."
That series told the tale of the TV war between Vince McMahon (WWF) and Ted Turner (WCW) for rating supremacy on Monday nights that went on from the mid 90's to the early 2000's. I expected I'd only hear about WWE and WCW, but there was an entire episode dedicated to the impact ECW had on Pro-Wrestling during that era. ECW or Extreme Championship Wrestling was a grittier, more daring form of wrestling that would influence the Attitude Era and help shape the future of wrestling.
I had no knowledge of this until watching that Docu-Series, and then while I was cruising through Youtube, I learned that ECW came to Danbury back in 2000. The video below was posted by a Youtube Channel run by Lou Gregory and it's titled: "ECW "Fan Cam" Danbury, Ct. (6/17/2000)."
The video was uploaded to Youtube on September 6, 2022, and when I saw it the next day, it already had 132 views. Some of the people who viewed it, made a point to comment, below are some of those messages.
LeftyStegman: "One of my personal favorite buildings ECW ran because I had my high school graduation in that building."
Michael Kehner: "Thank you Thank you Thank you...RIP Mike Bell..."
Gas Exotic: "Wow what a dive by newjack he was my fav ever and def the craziest wrestler ever."
Isaic Teresias: "New Jack and Kid Kash could Team Up to be called The Kashters."
No, I didn't know ECW then, and I know very little now. But I was certain there would be plenty of people who'd appreciate me passing this on.
P.S. The only thing I cannot figure out from looking at the video is what building in Danbury this took place in? I want to say the PAL building but the banners in the rafters are making believe it's the O'Neill Center at West Conn.
