I bet you're wondering how the Flamin' Hot Cheetos came to be. According to the website mashed.com, it was a janitor at a Frito-Lay's plant that invented Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Back in the '90s, that janitor, Richard Montanez, noticed that Frito-Lay had never developed a spicy-flavored Cheeto.

During one of his typical workdays, Montanez noticed that a machine had dispensed a batch of Cheetos that were unseasoned, so he took that batch home to experiment. He then placed his own spices and chili powder on the puffs.

Because the CEO had always encouraged his employees to act like an owner, Montanez picked up the phone and called the CEO directly. Impressed by his ambition, he invited Montanez to his office to present his invention.

The CEO was blown away by the idea, and in 1992, Flamin' Hot Cheetos were released nationally, and to this day, they have been one of the company's hottest selling products.
