Connecticut Father Fatally Stabbed; Son Taken Into Custody on Murder Charge
Tragic news out of Farmington, CT: WFSB-TV reports that police say Joshua Popielarczyk, a 31-year-old Connecticut man from Avon, has been charged with murder after fatally stabbing his father, David Popielarczyk, inside their Farmington home late Sunday night.

According to investigators, officers were called to the residence following a 911 report of a disturbance. When they arrived, they found the 63-year-old victim lying in the living room with multiple stab wounds. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives identified the victim’s son as the suspect. Police say the stabbing occurred during an argument that escalated into violence inside the home. The suspect was taken into custody without incident when officers arrived.
Authorities say no other individuals were in the house at the time of the assault, and there is no indication of any broader threat to the public. Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the attack, and they are interviewing individuals familiar with the family to piece together what led to the fatal confrontation.
The suspect has been charged with murder and is being held on a high bond. He is expected to appear in court as the case moves forward. Police say additional charges could be added depending on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy to confirm the cause and manner of death. Police say initial evidence at the scene is consistent with a violent stabbing.
Authorities will release further updates as more information becomes available.
